about

“Rainbow” is Isabella Fabbri’s first solo album with 7 tracks for saxophone, voice and electronics. It was composed, recorded and produced by the artist during the past year and it represents the creative result of her artistic research on the inner power of the human being.

Each piece is dedicated to one of the 7 chakras, the major energy points of the human body in the Hindu culture, which are related to 7 different colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Every track aims to create the ideal soundscape to stimulate within the listener each energy center and its specific functions:

- RED (1st Chakra) aims to increase courage;
- ORANGE (2nd Chakra) aims to improve creativity;
- YELLOW (3rd Chakra) aims to reinforce self-esteem;
- GREEN (4th Chakra) aims to develop the capacity to express feelings;
- BLUE (5th Chakra) aims to empower the ability to communicate;
- INDIGO (6th Chakra) aims to enhance intuition;
- VIOLET (7th Chakra) aims to facilitate self-fulfillment.

"Rainbow" is a colourful journey within oneself: through this meditative-active album the artist invites the listener to recognize and embrace his own inner beauty and power.

-

1. RED (1st Chakra)

“Rainbow”’s opening track is dedicated to the first of the 7 major energy centers of the human body, following the Hindu culture: the Muladhara chakra, also called the root chakra. Located at the very base of our spine, it is usually represented with a red lotus flower.
Muladhara is the foundation of the whole chakras’ system: it is responsible for our sense of safety, stability, strength, commitment. It is connected to our roots and to our survival instinct. It is also home to the Kundalini, our divine energy.
The music, in C (Muladhara’s related sound), is introduced by the mantra “Lam” (Muladhara’s related mantra) and it is powered by the strong rhythm of the drums and by the deep voice of the baritone saxophone.
This first track is about the energy that keeps us alive: it invites the listener to live bravely, supported by powerful roots that convey calm and stability. It’s a hymn to life, it’s a tribute to earth. This single states: I AM.

2. ORANGE (2nd Chakra)

“Rainbow”’s second track is dedicated to the Svadhisthana chakra, also called the sacral chakra. Located in the lower abdomen, above the pubic bone and below the navel, it is usually represented with an orange lotus flower.
Svadhisthana is the center of our sexual, emotional and creative energy: it is responsible for our sense of wellness, abundance, pleasure and joy. It is connected to the reproduction, the creation, the joy of living.
The music, in D (Svadhisthana’s related sound), is introduced by the mantra “Vam” (Svadhisthana’s related mantra) and it is nourished by the sensual timbre of the hang and the tenor saxophone, both leading the listener to a luminous choral section.
The voices start to sing the “Adi Shakti” mantra. Here, the words “Adi Shakti”, which literally mean ‘primal power’, invite to recognize, embrace and celebrate our creative force. This single states: I FEEL.

3. YELLOW (3rd Chakra)

“Rainbow”’s third track is dedicated to the Manipura chakra, also called the solar plexus chakra. Located in the area of the stomach, it is represented with a yellow lotus flower.
Manipura is the center of our self-confidence and self-esteem: it controls our personal power, will, autonomy and it influences our vitality. It is strongly connected to our identity and personality.
The music, in E (Manipura’s related sound), is introduced by the mantra “Ram” (Manipura’s related mantra) and finds its base on the proud and vivid rhythm of the baritone saxophone, which is the main character of this piece.
This track is about the inner fire that supports us: it invites us to know ourselves, to become aware of our value and to live with enthusiasm, doing what we love, expressing ourselves freely. This single states: I DO.

4. GREEN (4th Chakra)

“Rainbow”’s fourth track is dedicated to the Anahata chakra, also called the heart chakra. Located at the center of the spine, at heart level, it is usually represented with a green lotus flower.
 Anahata is the center of love, compassion and empathy: it influences our ability to offer and receive love, to accept and forgive ourselves and the others. It connects the lower three chakras (related to the instinct) to the upper three chakras (related to the higher consciousness).
The music, in F (Anahata’s related sound), is introduced by the mantra “Yam” (Anahata’s related mantra) and it is constantly supported by a regular and vigorous rhythm. The shiny and embracing voices accompany the listener through the whole piece, which culminates with the alto saxophone solo.
This track is about unconditional love: it invites to open the heart, to develop empathy for oneself and for the others and to express one’s feelings with honesty and kindness. This single states: I LOVE.

5. BLUE (5th Chakra)

“Rainbow”’s fifth track is dedicated to the Vishuddha chakra, also called the throat chakra. Located at the center of the neck, at throat level, it is usually represented with a blue lotus flower.
Vishuddha is the center of communication and inspiration: it is responsible for self-expression and the ability to speak our truth. It connects our feelings to our thoughts.
The music, in G (Vishuddha’s related sound), is introduced by the mantra “Ham” (Vishuddha’s related mantra). Here, the voice and the soprano saxophone gradually transform their sounds to find, in the end, their free and harmonious way to express themselves.
This track is about free and confident communication: it invites to express our voice, communicating with clarity and courage. This single states: I SPEAK.

6. INDIGO (6th Chakra)

“Rainbow”’s sixth track is dedicated to the Ajna chakra, also called the third eye chakra. Located in the middle of the forehead, between the eyebrows, it is represented with an indigo lotus flower.
Ajna is the center of perception, wisdom and intuition: it is responsible for how we perceive the world. It rules over our ability to visualize and intuitively understand the reality and it connects us to the spiritual world, overcoming all kind of dualism.
The music, in A (Ajna’s related sound), is introduced by the mantra “Om” (Ajna’s related mantra) and it is composed by three parts: the first one embodies the masculine energy, the second one the feminine energy and the last one represents the union of both.
This track is about integrated vision of reality: it invites you to understand the world through intuition and self-awareness and to put aside any dualistic thought. This single states: I SEE.

7. VIOLET (7th Chakra)

“Rainbow”’s last track is dedicated to the Sahasrara chakra, also called the crown chakra. Located at the top of the head, it is usually represented with a violet lotus flower.
Sahasrara is our spiritual center: it influences the interaction with our higher self and it connects us to universal consciousness.
The music, in B (Sahasrara’s related sound), is introduced by the mantra “Ah” (Sahasrara’s related mantra) and it founds its base on the repetition in crescendo of the Gayatri mantra, alternating with meditative solos of the voice and the baritone saxophone.
This track represents the final step of our journey. It is about enlightenment and fulfillment: it invites you to wear a crown, to embrace your inner divinity and to find peace in deep connection to the universe. This single states: I KNOW.
